Dear Residents and Business Owners,

In this newsletter, we provide you with an update on the work so far and the construction activities scheduled for the coming period.

Widening of construction site

Over the course of a year, starting from the bottom level, the construction team has worked hard to construct two visible towers. Now that the basement is ready, we can backfill the sheeted excavation with sand. Welders will burn away the remaining sheet piling to deep below ground level, freeing up land within our working area. On the Boompjes side of the site, a temporary road has been built on the inside of the fence, providing us with an additional supply and disposal route for materials.

Concrete structure of apartments visible

The core structures have been visible above ground level since late last year. Construction of the cores had a head start of several floors (and weeks) compared to the concrete structure of the apartments that will surround them. The walls, columns and floors of the apartments are now also visible. The tower on the Terraced Tower side is several floors ahead of the lower tower on the Rijkswaterstaat side. This is a deliberate choice and is entirely due to the cranes being so close together.

Steel trusses

You can see from the 3D impressions of the towers that the façades are staggered every five to six floors. Large steel trusses will be placed here to transfer bearing power and weight to the components below. This will take place across both towers six times, with the steel trusses becoming larger and heavier. The first steel truss was placed in early February and is 23 metres long and 6 metres high. Given its size, the truss required special transport, and this occurred at night. Lifting and fixing of the trusses will take place during the day.

Over the next few weeks, the remaining trusses will be transported to the site and fixed in place. The first façade elements will be mounted from the end of April. More information on this will be provided in the next newsletter.
